Cool House!!

I've been dying to get to Birmingham so that I could take pictures of my sister's house and share them with you. It is finally nearing completion and definitely picture-worthy! The entire interior of the house is painted white. Her "style" is a mix of antiques and modern and they really "pop" against their white background. Hope you enjoy the tour as much as I did!!

When you walk in her front door, this console is directly to your left.

Straight ahead (directly in front of the front door) is this antique mirror. BUT GUESS WHAT! It's actually a door to the powder room! Rather than opening the front door and being greeted by the door to the bathroom, she had the door transformed into a mirror! How cool is that?!?

And directly to your right when you enter her home, is this beautiful sitting/dining room. The round table in the center has 6 (I think leaves) in it and expands the length of the room. So when she entertains, she can transform the room into a dining room.

Here's a close-up of the antique screen.

In one corner:

On one wall (sorry about the glare!)

This little "breezeway" leads from the foyer area to .....

...this gorgeous little area on your left:

Directly across from that sitting area is her kitchen table nook:

Both ends of this nook have these framed prints:

And here's a glimpse of her all-white kitchen:

This is my favorite view!!

They had this pool table in their old house. But it was dark and shiny. So she had the pool table bleached and had the green felt replaced with taupe felt. Isn't it amazing??

A close-up of the chandelier hanging above the pool table: (And notice the painted beams)

A random corner:

A close up of the painting above her fireplace. She LOVES her angel!

Cool stuff on her shelves (the shelves are backed with velvet)

This little area leads to the door to the courtyard:

The courtyard is currently under construction (I'll post pics when it's completed!), but here is a shot of her angels statue:

Isn't she lovely?

And her little boy says, "Thanks for looking!"

Holley, it looks wonderful...congratulations!!

Hi, I just happened to see your comment post (on 'Life in the Fun Lane') mentioning a different 'white house' tour on your blog, so I was curious to see another lovely home in that style. (How funny that they're both owned by Holle/y's!)

Your sisters home is incredible. I was really admiring the fireplace and courtyard. I was wondering if they refinished their fireplace in a custom stone design on their own, or if it just came that way. I thought it was really cool, and wondered how it was done.

Your blog looks pretty fun, and you have a beautiful family...so thanks for the inspiring post, I think I may go see what other cool posts you've got here :)

Happy Wednesday and God Bless!

Wow- I'm flattered- great pics Tiff! Thanks everyone- its been so fun reading blogs for decorating ideas. I am constantly looking at Simply Selata and Cote de Texas so its funny to see you here.

Krystal- the fireplace I got at a place called Architectural Heritage in Birmingham, AL. It is from France made in 1792- it came with all the surrounding pieces. We had bricklayers cut blonde bricks in half for the herringbone pattern and put in marble tiles. They did have to make some pieces to fill in the gaps. I bet you can replicate this- I see tons of sources in Veranda magazine. :)

best wishes-Holley

Thanks for the replies, I do look forward to your future pics. And wow, what a great find, Holley! I imagine the authentic French antique is quite the conversation piece, and what a neat tactic with the brick design, I had to go back and look more closely...it's a lovely addition!
