Yesterday some friends and I held a Surprise Birthday Brunch for a dear friend who lost her dad less than a year ago.We had no idea how much it would mean to this dear friend. Our friend called later and said that this was her best birthday ever. I am sure that she thought it would be her worst because her daddy wouldn't be there to tell her ,"Happy Birthday". Besides that, her birthday is on 9-11, so ... it's not the best day for a birthday, anyway! She said that she had already cried on the phone with her mother earlier in the morning. Her mother was also feeling especially sad and lonely without her husband there. After all, this is their firstborn. Her daughter's birthday was always special to them as a couple. My friend was excited about telling her mom that she did, in fact, end up having a great birthday. She thought that it would help her mom have a better day, also. Yesterday served as a gentle, wonderful reminder to me to be obedient to what God places on my heart. So many times I have had good intentions but just get too busy and/or lazy to act on my thoughts. I often think to myself, "I should send her a note." "I should take dinner to that family." "I should call her to see how she's doing." "I should offer to keep her children." But that's as far as it ever gets. So my point with this post is to encourage all of us to follow through with what God places on our hearts! You never know what He has up His sleeve!

Thanking God today for sweet friends and for God nudging us to be obedient!

Have a great weekend!!
