Translation:
"Tiffany is the best Mommy anybody could ever have
She's the girl I've been dreaming about since I was a baby
She's the most kindest mom I know
I hope she never leaves
She's my mom and nothing will change that
She's the girl I wanted."
The book is called "1000 Gifts" because, on a dare and in a very "dry" spiritual season for this author, she was asked to list 1000 things for which she is thankful. God's gifts. 1000. As she began making her list, her life changed. She woke up each day with an excitement, a giddiness, that truly changed her life. Writing down, naming God's gifts, in the ordinary day-to-life, she discovered just how blessed we all are right where we are. Her excitement is contagious. The happiness that flow from God's gifts in the day-to-day is ours if we will just look at them as God's gifts! After reading Chapter two last night, I could hardly fall asleep because I was busy making my own list in my mind.
1. The smile of a seven year old with a kool-aid mustache and big front teeth, and not a care in the world that her teeth are big or that she has a red kool-aid mustache.
2. Freckles sprinkled on the nose of a little girl (specifically, these freckles sprinkled on this little nose).
On the other hand, this little boy never had a doubt that he wouldn't get the award. I was surprised. And embarrassed. :)
After school that day, I told him, "Daddy and I have known about this for a few days." He replied, "I've known about this for a few days." Surprised, I asked, "How did you know? It was supposed to be a surprise." He replied, "When my teacher told us on Monday that she was picking one boy and one girl, I knew it was me. I know I'm good."
They were all piled into Sunshine's room! If you look closely, you'll see blue tape on the floor that they used to section off each person's "space".
Uh-Oh! Looks like Sunshine is trespassing on someone else's space...
There's a kid in there somewhere...trust me.
And here's the princess herself, under a tent of bed sheets.
We arrived in NYC in the afternoon. Checked in to the hotel then made our way to Times Square. We put our name on the waiting list at Carmines then dashed off to Toys R US while we were supposed to be waiting at Carmine's. We rode the Ferris Wheel inside Toys R Us and had the kids picture taken and displayed on Times Square. That was pretty cool!
Holley and Durham.
I love this picture below!! It reminds me of one of my favorite lines that Kat said while we were there...."Since I've been in New York City, everyone keeps making comments about my hair and my coat." In other words, "Since I've been in NYC, I'm finally getting the attention I deserve." :) (Y'all know by now how humble she is!)
Because it was still snowing and so B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L, we took a horse and buggy ride through Central Park.
In order to finally drag her cute little self off the ice, I had to promise to take her ice skating in Montgomery! And Aunt Holley surprised her with a purple velvet backless (with rhinestones!)
I'm a 40 year old stay-at-home mom with an awesome husband and our 4 children, ages 10,8, 7, and 6. My goal with this blog is to document our life as a family while at the same time reminding myself with each blogpost to see God's hand at work in our daily lives. God has blessed our family beyond measure and I have a bad habit of forgetting that, especially as I'm scraping dried toothpaste off my sink, the floor, my tweezers, and the handle of my brush while at he same time hearing my children yelling in the background, "Mommy, come wipe me!" , and "Mom, have you seen my other soccer cleat?!" and "Mom, he took my blankey and put it in the trash!" (you get the picture). So join us, if you dare, "where the green grass grows" as I attempt to document our life as a family and count our blessings...one day at a time.
A sweet gentle soul with a love for Jesus that is genuine and real. Her sweet gentle nature is tempered by a competitive spirit that never ceases to amaze me! Always aims to please and always does her very best. She loves Jesus, history, the United States, soccer, and Georgia football!
A naturally obedient, well-mannered, eager-to-please, little man. He loves Georgia football, spending time with his daddy, , playing on the lake, and aggravating his three sisters! His precious grin just makes my day!
A playful, fun, happy-go-lucky little girl who is full of giggles and grins. She loves being the baby of the family but can't wait to be a big sister (it'll never happen!). Her infectious laugh, sense of humor, and easy-going nature keep me thanking God for letting me end on a good note!
